Opportunity for DVA Members to deliver Walking Workshops as part of Cranborne Chase National Landscape

In partnership with Cranborne Chase National Landscape (CCNL)

Building on the success of our recent Droves & Downs project, Dorset Visual Arts is offering DVA Members the opportunity to deliver walking workshops this autumn on Cranborne Chase, as part of CCNL’s Walking Festival which runs from 16th - 20th September 2026. There are 4 workshop sessions available and we are looking for a variety of media and experiences for participants.

Workshops can involve different approaches and a variety of materials to explore the unique landscape of Cranborne Chase. Not all sessions will need to involve walks but will involve exploration of the ecology, history and other stories of the Chase. Work can be made out in the field and in some instances, at selected sites such as village halls.

All sessions must have a family friendly/general public focus and may involve work with some of CCNL's community groups - Jolly Good Company, The Ghurkas, CCNL Volunteers and a Wiltshire-based NEET Group. Sessions will be with small groups of up to 12 participants and will last 2-3 hours with volunteer support.

The sessions should help encourage people to access Cranborne Chase National Landscape, bringing different groups and communities to the area to raise awareness of the area’s natural, historic and cultural heritage.

To Apply - please submit:

  • 100 words in a Word document outlining what you can offer as a workshop

  • A 2-page PDF outlining your Exhibition CV and any relevant experience around teaching/community engagement work/facilitation

  • One image which illustrates the sort of work that might be produced

  • Confirmation of Public Liability Insurance and DBS certificate

Please submit your application as one PDF document to Izzie at info@dorsetvisualarts.org

Fees
The workshop fee is £200. There will also be a discretionary amount provided towards material costs.

The opportunity will be supported with marketing through CCNL’s and DVA’s channels including socials, newsletters, websites and press releases.
