One Green Bottle - Kevin Moore
Here's what he had to say about his practice and how Dorset influences his work: I have a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and was a full time Art Teacher for 28 years. Since leaving the teaching profession to focus on my career as an artist I have completed a 6 month studio residency at ArtSpace 82 on Portland and now have a studio at Mellstock Farm near Dorchester. I work predominantly in oils and enjoy working en plein air as well as creating larger paintings when back in the studio. I was a wildcard artist in this years Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year and had the pleasure of painting the Liverpool Waterfront in an episode that will be on television Jan/Feb this year.
Dying by Inches - Kevin Moore
Living and working in Dorset is a huge inspiration to me. The natural landscape and being close to the coast helps me feel connected and rooted to nature. The geological aspects of the eroding Jurassic coast unearths a constant reminder of the fragile qualities of existence. I attempt to reference this delicate balance in my recent still life paintings, drawing attention towards the important role the smallest of creatures play in nature and sustaining life. I aim to portray their delicate beauty and to elevate their importance, especially bringing notice to insects which may be considered as pests yet play a crucial role in our ecosystem.
