Sian Evans

Sian Evans is a British artist, jeweller and designer working in Dorset. Her work embodies ancient aesthetics whilst being a thoroughly contemporary conversation with jewellery and jewellery archetypes. Sian uses recycled gold, silver and gemstones and making processes that include goldsmithing and lapidary ( hardstone carving ) . Recent works incorporate her hand carved Scottish Agates and Jaspers, Flint from Dorset and Hematite from Somerset. These under appreciated and beautiful stones are foraged on walks, avoiding the environmental impact of mining. Her celebrated and multi award winning work over four decades has encompassed many niches in the world of jewellery, from catwalk jewellery and fashion jewellery to academia, fine jewellery, lapidary and collaborations with artists and designers. Her academic research at Central Saint Martins, where she was senior lecturer for 13 years, reflects her lifelong interests in archaeology, geology, environment, ethics , technology and process.
