JULIE ADLARD Biography I studied Combined Craft Design at South Bank University and Advanced Ceramics and Painting at Kingston College. My inspiration comes from harbours of the South West of England as well as places from my travels. I use colour to create work that gives an emotional response to a place and the harbour scenes especially create a feeling of nostalgia and homecoming.I am really interested in surface texture and work in mixed medium so use air drying clay and fabrics to create collage paintings. I use acrylics and glazes which gives vibrancy to the work and brings the subject to life. The tactile element of clay and texture and printing possibilities really brings a landscape or harbour to life, and makes the painting much more than a 2 dimensional object. I love to share my knowledge and teach workshops on the clay collage technique. I have had success in both joint and solo shows in Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West London. I am currently represented by Artistry Gallery in Henley on Thames, Fowey River Gallery in Fowey and The Picture House Gallery Padstow.
