Artist Spotlight - Annabel Beasley
4 August 2025
Our Droves & Downs bursary recipients have been busy exploring the area and researching into their chosen subjects. We will be highlighting the artists over the next few weeks before sharing a look into what they have been working on.
This exciting new arts and landscape project, in partnership with Cranborne Chase, will enable the four artists to create new work inspired by and focused on the National Landscape.
Annabel Beasley, is a photographer specialising in intimate analogue landscapes and portraits that speak of healing and connection. Her practice uses a mix of symbolism, metaphoric imagery, alternative processes and staging to capture complex narratives documenting people and place.
Annabel Beasley shares “I hope to capture the beauty of Cranborne Chase by exploring the undeniable spirituality of the landscape, its rich history and meeting the communities and volunteers who work towards conservation and education of its unique habitats, while learning more about the place I have lived my whole life.”
The project will culminate in a group exhibition at Shaftesbury Arts Centre in November 2025 showcasing a diverse range of work exploring the multifaceted ecology and heritage of Cranborne Chase.
Droves and Downs is a Dorset Visual Arts project, part of the DVAtions programme. We would like to thank Dorset Council for their generous support with Culture and Community Funding.
