Tim Edgar
My work explores the tension between precision and imperfection, structure and entropy. Using the grid as both a foundation and a fragile construct, I create drawings that reveal the vulnerability of geometric order. Influenced by scientific models and natural systems, my practice investigates how materials (graphite, ink, paper), deteriorate, resist, and transform. Each mark becomes an inquiry into the limits of control, where a subtle randomness disrupts perfection. My drawings embody the delicate balance between rigidity and collapse, stability and decay— mirroring the delicate balance found in both nature and science. Recently my work has been included in “Paper Works” at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol, Hold On / Let Go at Spudworks, Wales Contemporary and the Evolver Prize exhibitions.
