Stella has always loved painting but worked as a doctor, mostly in Dorset for 33years. On retiring she completed an Art Foundation Course achieving a distinction in 2020. Since she has been busy developing her art practice, taking part in Dorset Art Weeks, 2021 and 2022 as a solo exhibitor and having an Open House show in late 2023. She was short-listed for the British Art Prize 2022 and exhibited her painting in London. She works on paper, canvas and board using a variety of mixed media and tools and produces mostly semi-abstract landscapes usually related to the sea. She spends much time in, on or by the sea which is a continual inspiration. Her work is produced from sketches, photographs, experiences and sensations and tends to be bold, colourful and is built up of many layers.
