Abstract Landscape
Mixed media textile artist, based in Shaftesbury. Memories are the starting point for Sarah's mixed-media textiles; often a sense of place. She prefers to work in series, taking the time to immerse herself in a particular landscape. Having trained in fine art textiles at Manchester, she enjoys subverting notions of this ‘domestic’ craft by repurposing fabrics into artworks. Whilst her process begins with traditional sketches and photographs, she finds a freedom inherent in the physicality of dyeing, ripping, layering and stitching fabric. Current work explores themes of time and erosion as evidenced in the landscape. Art textile workshops taught monthly from Sarah’s purpose built garden studio - details via her website.
