Seascapes and Wildlife Paintings in Oil
Hello! I am a self taught artist in Swanage, Dorset. My grandfather was a royal photographers guild photographer who owned an art shop and photographic studio where, when I was bored, I would read the art books, handle the paint brushes and look at all the art materials. I painted my first painting at 15, a small tiger cub, it was so loved a few neighbours and acquaintances commissioned small paintings from me. I then left art completely and went to London and studied Science. Graduating with a first I then did two masters but ill health and various life circumstances and locations meant I didn't ever work fully in the scientific field. I returned to art approached a local gallery who took me on. I have been with them ever since painting on a small scale while I brought up my two children. Now I am trying to develop my art work further and hopefully you will see some exciting changes as I explore and grow more as an artist. My work is about capturing brief moments which have moved me or transfixed me or struck me with beauty, peace or spaciousness. I think nature does colours better so I follow her lead, I have become largely known for my colour use, or so I am told. Many of my painting have a delicate understated beauty, capturing a moment of freedom, escape, peace, or the wonder of nature and wildlife. I really hope you enjoy them. Life has been really hard these last few years as I had a minor traumatic brain injury and I now live with a csf leak but art keeps me sane, motivated and joyful. If you are reading this then art also means a lot to you too so we have that in common. Paintings are viewable at my open Studio in Swanage where I also sell my art cards and local gifts. Thank you.
