Sam Pattman
Predominantly paintings , textural and often figurative, exploring transience and the human condition
Sam Pattman is driven to explore the wild coastlines and palaeontology of Dorset and be influenced further by historical elements of the past. After initially studying textiles and later fine art, through experimentation she discovered an affinity with sculpture, printmaking and painting. Predominantly a painter, her work, often figurative, describes the intangible; striving to convey the transient, impermanence and fluidity of existence. Fascinated by geological structures and archaeological remains, incomplete residual traces appear on canvas. The eroded nature of character; shaped and formed, synonymous with the physical processes of geological time.
