Inspired from an early age by drawing birds and landscapes, I’ve continued to sketch and paint for much of my life, mainly using oil as my preferred medium but also acrylics for certain applications and effects. Although largely self-taught, I’ve also benefitted from several motivational mentors who’ve encouraged me to develop my artistic skills over the years. I enjoy working across a range of different styles, the choice of which at any time depends on what I wish to present to the viewer, as well as whether I’m painting ‘en plein aire’ or the studio. My aim is simply to enjoy the act of producing visual art to convey evocative and atmospheric images to capture light, shade, mood and, where applicable, movement. I’ve exhibited and sold art at various galleries and venues in Dorset, achieving excellent commendations.
