Pauleen worked for over 25 years as an art lecturer at the Bournemouth College, teaching art and design, textiles, costume and theatre make up, on retirement she took a course in Botanical Illustration and fell in love with painting nature, she now paints botanically accurate paintings and illustrations of subjects found in the surrounding Dorset Countryside. She has been an artist member of the Hilliard Society of Miniaturists for over 30 years, and is a member of the Council and the selection panel for their annual exhibition. In 2019 she was accepted as a Fellow Member of the Society of Botanical Artists and is now a Tutor and Assessor on their Distance Learning Diploma Course. She has been awarded two SBA Certificates of Botanical Merit. Pauleen works in watercolour and does some lino and collagraph printmaking, she also enjoys producing textile art and crafts. She exhibits regularly in London and the South West, and has exhibited in Frankfurt and Madrid. She has been awarded two RHS Gold Medals for Botanical Painting and Best Painting in Show for her illustration of the Ash Tree, this is now part of the RHS Lindley Library archives, she has also been awarded two group RHS Silver Medals. Pauleen has also been awarded the trophy for Botanical Art from the Dorset Arts and Crafts Association on 7 occasions. In 2025 she was invited to travel to Romania to work on an illustration project for the Transylvanian School of Botanical Art.
