Miranda Lailey
Abstract Artist
Miranda is a Dorset based Artist where she works out of her studio. She has exhibited work in the UK and has work in private collections worldwide. Born 1977 in the Cathedral City of Salisbury in Wiltshire, Miranda finished at Art College and went on to train as a Specialist Decorative Paint Finisher, this was to give her a good foundation and grounding in technique and discipline. Having gained experience in working with colour, using different pigments and materials, and learning many specialist painting techniques, she now incorporates this all into her artwork. Later returning her focus back to her love of art and painting, Miranda creates work inspired by her environment, the elemental colours, texture and organic shapes of the natural world, human nature, emotions, and the human form. Working layer upon layer to build up rich colours and textures to create depth that can draw you into the painting, allowing the viewer to indulge their imagination to find their own unique interpretation of each piece. Miranda endeavors to use natural paints and tools that she hand makes and is always experimenting with natural environmentally friendly alternative materials to use for her work. "For me, painting is like wrapping up in a warm blanket on a cold winters day, or a hug from a much loved old friend. It's reassuring, and a constant companion through good and bad times. I create paintings because I really love to paint and if someone else has an emotional response and likes/enjoys what I have created then that encounter itself is the beautiful thing, and it always makes me feel humbled." Miranda is always continuing the development of her artwork and is influenced by many people, but here are a few particular favourites: R.O. Dunlop RA (my Great Grand Father) Cecily Brown Jackson Pollock J.M.W Turner RA Barbara Hepworth Helen Frankenthaler
