My jewellery incorporates intricately pierced designs in silver and gold which often include hidden words to be discovered by the wearer. Some of my one-off pieces take many hours to make and I enjoy seeing the open-work patterns emerge before me. I draw inspiration from American Indian motifs and Ancient Greek pattern and am fascinated by how I can fit shapes together like a puzzle. My jewellery collections combine one-off pieces and limited editions incorporating techniques such as Keum-Boo and wax carving. With thirty years experience I started off studying Metals at Plymouth College of Art. The course was broad and as well as jewellery I learnt architectural metalwork and forging. I chose to specialise in Jewellery making. After finishing at college I worked in trade workshops doing jewellery repairs and alterations before setting up a studio at Walford Mill Crafts in Dorset. It was there that I started my own business designing and making collections, and commission work using heirloom stones. I have studied gemmology with Gem A which I find fascinating, and try to use ethically sourced stones whenever possible. Alongside my own practice, I teach jewellery classes in West Dorset.
