Julie Vatcher
Julie is based in Poole, Dorset. Her paintings flow with the seasons and depict landscapes, seascapes and wildflowers. Julie uses a combination of mediums from very fluid paint to thick impasto brushwork, drawing inspiration from the wonderful area in which she lives, from the seashore to the soft rolling hills that surround Dorset. Her art conveys a calmness and she often withdraws from the busyness of life to find stillness, escaping to her studio to regenerate and recharge her mind. “Painting allows me to escape, even from my thoughts. After picking up a brush during a particularly stressful time in my life, I felt as if I had slept for hours”. Julie has always been drawn to creativity, as soon as she could pick up a pencil and began to draw. She studied art and graphics in the late 1980s, in the days of drawing boards and thick Pantone markers, conveying an idea onto paper was mandatory. Drawing, understanding colour, composition, typography, photography and print have been the foundation of her career as an artist.
