Julie McCabe
I am a mixed media artist and ardent creative living by the coast in Weymouth, Dorset. I am drawn to found time-worn objects and recycled textiles, exploring the quiet stories they carry. As a slow-stitcher, I let these found/ recycled materials lead the way, responding intuitively with thread, stitch, symbolism & other markings to imbue new meaning. As a mature student, I earned a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, a journey that shaped my thoughtful, process-led approach to making. My work is rooted in mindfulness, memory, texture, and gentle repetition—a meditative practice that feels both grounding and restorative. I’m passionate about the connection between creativity and wellbeing and love bringing people together through calming, shared making whether it be in small groups or larger community projects. I’m planning to offer workshops in 2026, with more details to come soon.
