Julia Crole
I graduated from Camberwell College of Art in 2023 and am based at the furthest tip of West Dorset. My surroundings here in the West Country, the hillforts, holloways and standing stones, inform my work which sees England's past and present converge in my landscape-centric practice. My work draws on ideas of time as permeable and layered, with the past intruding on the present and shaping memories, stories - and ideas of absence and displacement. I work in layers of oil, wax, collage, gesso typically on linen or locally sourced wood panel and have experimented with work on tin/mild steel.
