My home and studio are in the Isle of Purbeck and my work is often based on direct responses to this unique landscape. Throughout my career in art education, retiring as Deputy Vice Chancellor of Arts University Bournemouth to be Emeritus Professor of Painting, I maintained my practice as a painter and exhibited regularly. I studied painting at Winchester School of Art from 1970-73 and graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1976. In many ways the most significant period of study for me was the time I spent in a studio in the Cite des Arts, Paris. In 2018 I was pleased to be elected a full Member of the Royal Watercolour Society and I presently serve as its Vice President. I exhibit regularly at the Bankside Gallery, London, and recent local exhibitions include the Slade Centre, Gillingham, the Fine Foundation Gallery, Durlston Castle, and the Mowlem Theatre, Swanage.
