Jennifer Hunt
Dorset landscape, coast and wildlife
Whilst beachcombing on the Jurassic Coast, I find fossils, shells, seaweed, sea-washed glass, china and strange creatures in rock-pools. I love drawing my findings and enjoy sketching the beautiful beaches and harbours from Swanage to East Devon. I have published two sketchbooks: A Year on Chesil Beach and A Year on the Jurassic Coast. Both are available from galleries and bookshops as well as from my website. I also create greetings cards, mugs and prints from my original paintings. I work in pen and ink – creating detailed drawings of plants, wildlife and ‘treasures’ I find along the strandline. I then use watercolour to bring my drawings to life. Observation of natural forms is key to my work. I am also a writer and often annotate my paintings with handwritten notes about the weather, sea conditions, etc. Where sea meets land is where I find my inspiration.
