Heather Gibbons

profile picture

Heather's work reflects her immediate surroundings on the Isle of Purbeck. From initial drawings made on site, visual interpretations are developed relating to rock forms, field patterns and the evocative landshapes. Lines are drawn, overdrawn, often re-invented to "fuse" with reality...visual descriptions put down through colour, line, form and texture. In her words: "From the drawing to the painting there is a period of transition, with moments of doubt, indecision...always being aware that certain steps will be taken into the unknown!" Working with oils provides Heather with a certain freedom to "use" the paint as she wants, making changes as the work evolves and moves forward. "It is not the goal which is of interest, but the means by which to achieve it". Georges Braque
