profile picture

My work draws mostly on the flora and fauna of the natural world and a long-held interest in traditional Folk Art and contemporary popular culture. I enjoy the representational pictorial quirkiness of the Folk Art tradition, its connection with the ordinary, everyday things and objects we can take for granted but which often have deeper personal meaning or connections. A sort of “nostalgia for now” drives my work, recording thoughts and ideas about everyday happenings from the wonder at stumbling across an unusual object, the awe of the new bloom as it opens to the feeling of tranquility when listening to birdsong. I have an Honours degree in Fine Art from the University for the Creative Arts and an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester. Recently returned to my home county of Dorset after 30 years , I have worked for several years in the Arts and Heritage industry in the South East.
