Claire Tozer

profile picture

Claire’s work is inspired by the Dorset landscape she lives in and rides her pony through, with many of her paintings referenced from photographs she takes whilst horse riding, offering her a unique between-the-ears perspective on her surrounding landscape. She also enjoys painting plein air, otherwise, Claire works from her studio at home. Through painting, Claire is drawn to capture the light, energy and movement she sees when outdoors, which she strives to bring back the feel of to her easel and interpret though oil paint, a medium she has been using for many years and always returns to as a firm favourite. Claire’s likes to paint landscapes but also ponies and aspects of rural countryside, drawing on scenes that surround her everyday life where she lives and keeps her ponies. These include a variety of wildlife and rural pursuits such as beekeeping, chickens, pheasants and industries that are associated with the countryside like thatching and farming. Living a stones-throw from the coast, the sea features in Claire’s work too, in particular Lulworth and Ringstead. Claire’s original paintings are currently sold at exhibitions, with the venues and details listed on the News page of her website, with a selection of her prints available to purchase directly from her website. She also welcomes enquiries for prints of hers you may have seen but may not be listed online, as well as commissioned paintings.
