Claire Thomas
Landscapes
Claire is a painter, living and teaching in North Dorset. The majority of Claire's work is inspired by her walks along local prehistoric hillforts and the same paths that her Father and Grandparents walked. Often, 'paths' or 'routes' can be seen within her paintings. The River Stour is often not far away and Claire likes to find the same meandering journey through her landscape paintings. The colours dictate themselves, but there is always an exaggeration that begins to take over! Painting in both Oils and Watercolours she predominantly concentrates on the landscape but has always painted the odd portrait, including the 'Alzheimer Series'. Lord Bath personally bought 2 of her paintings and they are now housed in the Wessex Collection at Longleat.
