BTEC DiplomaFoundation course in Art & Design. U.C.E. Birmingham 2004.Currently working through level 3 of a BA Fine Art with Open College of Arts. My primary interest lies in the depiction of landscape either figuratively, semi-abstract or abstract through the medium of painting using acrylics, mixed media or oils, depending on how I wish to depict a particular scene or whether painting figuratively or abstract. Working from images derived from the landscape and secret places of Dorset and its eponymous Jurassic coastline, striving to communicate a particular light atmospheric effect, or the unchanging seclusion peculiar to this part of rural Dorset, while developing my work in response to nature, taking my inspiration from fictional and real locations while concerning myself with rendering anonymity, time & spirit of place, atmosphere and spatial awareness from down land pastures, forested landscapes, heath land to coastal vistas. It is these specific intrinsic qualities of poetic intimacy combined with a sense of human presence that I wish to instil, through interpretations of landscape that is in a sense, quintessentially English.
