Since moving to the coast 8 years ago I have been inspired by my new Dorset surroundings to recreate the beauty I encounter every day into vibrant colourful hand- sewn collages made from new, recycled, remnant and hand painted cottons. Starting out with training in technique from Essex Textile Artist Sharon Blackman I have since developed a unique style creating driftwood framed original hand- sewn land and seascapes which have been sold locally and in galleries such as Janet Bell Gallery, Beaumaris Anglesey, Otterton Mill Devon, Walford Mill Wimbourne Dorset and No. 96 Gallery Topsham. I have recently taken on the role of chairman of Artwey, a local group of 40 artists of widely differing media. The group is involved in organising exhibitions and Open Studios in the area. In 2012 and 2014 I opened my own studio during Dorset Art Week. During August 2012 I was selected to exhibit in Pop-Up Dorset. I led an Olympic Inspire mark project called “The Giant Wall “which involved organising and carrying out over 30 community workshops to make 2 huge wall-hangings depicting local peoples Giants in mixed media Web site www.shorething.info
