Caro Lester’s printmaking and digital illustration work is colourful, graphic and contemporary. She starts by gathering information in both her Dorset coast and garden sketchbooks, using photography, collaged found materials and typography in her drawings. Caro's studio at the St George’s Centre on Portland is set up to allow work to be developed with a combination of printmaking techniques, from screen-print to relief and drypoint, alongside digital image-making and fabric design. She has exhibited work in recent years in a range of venues and shows, including Bridport Arts Centre, Dorchester Arts Open and Evolver Prize Top 50. She also regularly opens her studio with the other artists and makers on site. Caro originally studied a Graphic Design with Multimedia HND; currently she is building her creative practice in tandem with graphic design work. When not drawing or designing, she loves a good book, afternoon napping, live comedy and swimming in the sea.
