Trees, Sunlight and Shadow, Reflections
I am a lover of vibrant colours and the contrasts of bright light and strong shadows. I began my artistic revival by attempting to capture these in watercolours but it was when I discovered the potential of bold acrylic paints, some four years ago, that I found my direction. Since then I have focused on the impressionist depiction of sunlight spilling between shadowy trees to scatter dappled patterns upon forest trails and pathways and upon the living reflections that twist upon the surface of still waters. In 2023, I held a first solo exhibition in Christchurch, entitled "The Dark Embrace of Trees". Thi was followed by two more staged in my home town of Wimborne at the Walford Mill Craft Centre - "On Reflection" in 2024 and "Up the Garden Path" in 2025. I have also had paintings included in the Lighthouse Open Call 2024 (1 of 50 works selected) and in the Sherborne Open.
