Alison Summers Bell
Alison uses drawing, conceptual and installation based art to reflect upon contemporary art’s role in responding to concerns of ecology and social responsibility. She is interested in art as process and its potential for transformative understanding at a time of global challenge, re-engaging with ideas of ecological philosophy. Often the focus of Alison's work is on illuminating the mundane rather than a majestic or extraordinary moment and highlights the non-human as part of an holistic awareness. Alison aims to make work that is accessible and facilitates a re-engagement with thinking about the human in the wider physical world, reflecting a move towards relational and environmental aesthetics.
